UNHCR's Emergency Response

UNHCR works in more than 130 countries around the world and over 90% of our workforce are based in field locations. We are often first in and last out in a refugee crisis, providing vulnerable families with shelter, water and other survival essentials.

UNHCR has been responding to emergencies for over 70 years all over the world and has a worldwide network of over 20,000 staff, including trained experts in emergency response and preparedness ready to drop everything in the event of rapid deployment across the world.

When you join the Emergency Response Team, you are helping UNHCR plan for the future, prepare for the unknown, and mobilise at a moment’s notice, as soon as an emergency strikes.

Our fundraising impact

The majority of funds raised by Australia for UNHCR are directed to UNHCR’s emergency operations, providing the ready funds and resources to respond quickly and effectively in situations of crisis and disaster.
