Take part in an event

There are loads of fun and simple things you can do to fundraise for UNHCR – join in a fun run like the City2Surf and get people to sponsor you, ask people to make donations in lieu of birthday or wedding presents, hold an auction or raffle – it’s up to you.

Everyday Hero also makes it really easy for your supporters to donate – just register your event, spread the word, and your friends, family and colleagues can all donate securely online so there’s no need to worry about collecting cash or distributing receipts.

Fundraise in your community

Everyday Hero makes fundraising easy but if you’d prefer to do it directly yourself that’s possible too. Just fill in the PDF forms below to register your event or activity.   Download Form (2557kb). Once you’ve registered we’ll send you out an information kit to help you to plan your activity.

There are loads of things you can do. Here are just a few ideas:

• Car wash – get some friends together and wash all the cars in your community
• Casual day – ask people at your school or workplace to pay a fee to dress in casual clothes for the day
• Garage sale – de-clutter your house and send us the proceeds
• Shave your head – get people to sponsor you to shave or colour your hair
• Trivia night – hold a night of quizzical questions and games
• Dinner party – invite your friends over for dinner and charge them $20 a head
• Sporting events – run a marathon, have a golf day, play lawn bowls – whatever takes your fancy

Bring your friends and family

Throughout the year Australia for UNHCR holds various talks, social events and exhibitions whose ticket sales raise money for our projects around the world. This is a great opportunity to come to speak to members of the office in person, learn more about our work, introduce new supporters and enjoy yourself, all at the same time.
