As a Leading Women Fund donor and network member, you will be offered the opportunity to experience the Connecting Worlds app for yourself, throughout 2021.

We will have a limited intake donors this year. Through UNHCR’s ground-breaking new app, you’ll have the chance to connect directly with female Syrian refugees living in Jordan.

Connecting through the app over the course of a month you will be able to swap texts and photos with the refugee woman who you are matched with to learn more about each other’s daily lives and experiences. Translators will manage the language barrier, so you can type in your own language.

“It’s a way to meet each other not as donors and beneficiaries, but as equals, with much to share and learn from each other,” says UNHCR's Larissa Schlotterbeck, responsible for app concept.

“Through this simple connection, we can help make our lives a little richer.”

To join the fund, we ask you to give $3,000 (or $230 every four weeks), which is enough to help support a female refugee and her family for a year. That helps to cover her rent, utilities and food expenses – enabling her to focus on maximising her own and her children’s potential and building a better life.

“Women and girls represent both the tragedy of Syria and the hope for its future.” –
Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees

Our experience shows that when you empower a refugee woman, you empower the whole community around her.
