Deadly attacks in Lebanon have killed thousands of people and forced many more to flee, with 1.3 million people affected by the conflict.
Despite the ceasefire, the humanitarian situation remains dire. Families have begun returning home only to find utter destruction. Many people are still living in temporary shelters with nowhere else to go.
“The destruction around me is massive,” said Houssam Hariri, a UNHCR staff member. “Despite this, people are arriving in large numbers. We should stand with these people so that they are able to rebuild their lives from scratch.”
The break in conflict means that UNHCR can ramp up its work providing emergency supplies such as blankets, mattresses, winter jackets and solar lamps – but we need your help.
Please donate now to send life-saving supplies and help families rebuild.
Muna, displaced Lebanese
Lebanon hosts the largest number of refugees in the world per capita. There are around 1.5 million Syrian refugees in the country. Together with Lebanese nationals, they are among those most affected by this crisis.
UNHCR has been working in Lebanon for over 60 years, assisting both Lebanese and refugee communities in times of crisis. Within Lebanon, dedicated teams are working with authorities to provide shelter, relief items, emergency cash, healthcare and psychological support to help families rebuild their lives.
In Syria, UNHCR is distributing thermal blankets, warm clothing and cash assistance to people forced to flee.
But after months of displacement, families urgently need more help.
