Outline & Purpose of Role:

Australia for UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency’s national partner in Australia, raising awareness and funds to support UNHCR’s global emergency response to humanitarian crises. It achieves this through the generosity of Australian individual donors, trusts, foundations and other organisations who donate to and partner with Australia for UNHCR to support its goals. Established in 2000 as part of a global fundraising network, it has now raised more than $217 million from a broad network of individuals, community and corporate partners.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, motivated and organised Finance Officer to join our Finance Team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is responsible for the management of accounts payable, payroll processing and providing support to accounts tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of accounts payable including distribution, data entering and preparing payment of supplier invoices on a weekly basis.
  • Management of payroll information including new staff set up and updating existing staff information
  • Processing and preparation of the weekly casual staff payroll and fortnightly permanent staff payroll
  • Processing, reconciliation and preparation of monthly superannuation payments, weekly PAYG, and quarterly BAS
  • Collating, coordinating and reconciliation of petty cash and monthly company credit cards
  • Ensuring up-to-date filing of records
  • Providing support to the Finance Manager & Finance Team
  • Ad-hoc administrative support and other project tasks as requested

The successful applicant will possess the following essential attributes:

  • Solid payroll and accounts payable experience, 1-2 years.
  • Strong MYOB experience, including payroll and accounts functions.
  • Ability to prioritise deadlines.
  • Good computer literacy in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to liaise with and engage stakeholders and third party suppliers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
