Outline & Purpose of Role:
Australia for UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency’s national partner in Australia, raising awareness and funds to support UNHCR’s global emergency response to humanitarian crises. Established in 2000, Australia for UNHCR has raised more than $400m from individual donors, philanthropists and corporates. These funds have supported the delivery of emergency shelter, water and cash assistance to some of the world’s most vulnerable people. Australia for UNHCR also directly funds international projects that support longer-term care such as building schools, running livelihood programs and providing healthcare.
The Digital Video Editor works closely with other members of the Communications team. The primary focus of this role is to edit compelling videos for Australia for UNHCR’s social media pages, website, events and internal communications. This role is responsible for the management and filing of videos and photos. The successful candidate can also ideally shoot video.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Senior Media and Communications Manager, the Digital Video Editor is responsible for:
- Edit video content native to TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. The ability to shoot these videos is also preferable.
- Measure performance of social videos through analytics and produce content informed by this analysis.
- Monitor the competitive social video landscape and identify trends in consumption in line with our brand, making recommendations for improvement
- Edit and film video for events and fundraising communications
- Source and edit video content from UNHCR global
- Build relationships with UNHCR’s global team to ensure Australia for UNHCR’s best-performing videos reach a bigger audience
- Work closely with other teams inside the organisation to create videos based on content requirements, such as World Refugee Day, fundraising eDMs, webinars and fundraising campaigns
- Oversee and manage the Digital Assessment Management Platform, Bynder, ensuring that photos are brought in daily from Refugees Media and captioned correctly, expired photos are removed accordingly, and protocols established to optimise use of the platform
- Ensure video files are stored, filed and shared online according to established guidelines

- To work with members of the content and communications team to provide consistent content and messaging across all platforms
- Ability to work solo and as part of a team
The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:
Essential
- Must be experienced in editing with Premiere Pro
- 3 + years of experience in video editing
- Experience in producing content for social media and understanding of social media trends
- Understanding of social media video trends
- Ability to respond to messaging needs and initiate video stories to effectively communicate them
Desirable
- Ability to shoot video
- Experience in writing scripts for social videos
- Video production experience in the humanitarian space
- Familiar with After Effects and Photoshop
