Australia for UNHCR is an international aid agency that raises funds from Australian donors to support the humanitarian operations of the UN Refugee Agency. Established in 2000 as part of a global fundraising network it has now raised more than $350 million from a broad network of individuals, community and corporate partners.

Outline & Purpose of Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and experienced social media content creator to help grow Australian support for the UN Refugee Agency’s frontline work. Working in the Communication and Public Affairs team, you will be responsible for planning, production, coordination, administration and coordination of internal stakeholders, content contributors and platform users. You will oversight the production and presentation of our external facing digital content, communication campaigns and community engagement platform activities across all of our digital channels.

Main Responsibilities

  • Administer content across our social media platforms
  • Act as in-house digital content subject matter expert, advisor, editor and publisher for all digital channels and platforms
  • Coordinate the digital content calendar, publishing planners and schedules for website, email, social media and SMS
  • Digital community engagement and content performance monitoring, measurement, benchmarking, analysis and reporting by channel
  • Act as digital ‘brand guardian’ by ensuring our digital channels and content in market are ‘on brand’, topical, relevant and engaging
  • Steward the growth and development of our digital supporter base, online audiences and social communities
  • Manage, monitor and report on all digital supporter marketing and communications activities for brand advocacy and engagement
  • Support digital fundraising/marketing appeal campaigns as required
  • Source and edit content from approved local and global sources to produce digital content that is fit for purpose
  • Liaise with external and internal digital agencies/content providers on the execution of support tasks and responsibilities as required
  • Support the improvement of digital asset management, including usage and standards definition, asset creation, maintenance and quality assurance controls

What we are looking for:

  • A minimum three years’ experience in social media, with a sound grasp of current digital trends, standards, best practices, new technologies and techniques.
  • Demonstrated success building audiences, content creation, engagement, community management and brand awareness across all digital channels.
  • Prior experience administering enterprise:
    - content management software platforms, ideally Umbraco CMS
    - SMS & email communication platforms, ideally Salesforce Marketing Cloud
    - social media management and scheduling software, ideally Hootsuite Enterprise
    - Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and Snapchat
  • Prior experience and qualifications in using Google Analytics and other SaaS Analytics tools and services
  • Image and video editing skills using tools like Adobe CS8 suite, etc.
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail, with the ability to take a brief and work to deadlines, sometimes under pressure.
  • Prior experience in or exposure to digital fundraising for a non-profit and optimising integrated user journeys and experiences across digital media channels and platforms would be advantageous
