Outline & Purpose of Role:

Australia for UNHCR is the UN Refugee Agency’s national partner in Australia, raising awareness and funds to support UNHCR’s global emergency response to humanitarian crises. It achieves this through the generosity of Australian individual donors, trusts, foundations and other organisations who donate to and partner with Australia for UNHCR to support its goals. Established in 2000 as part of a global fundraising network, it has now raised more than $217 million from a broad network of individuals, community and corporate partners.

We are looking for a passionate digital community coordinator to lead our digital engagement strategy across social media, web, email and sms. If you are an experienced digital media content producer with a strong foundation in using digital media, platforms and services to build brand awareness and community engagement this role is for you.

You’ll be a creative digital content writer and producer with a strong working knowledge of SEO. You have strong time and stakeholder management skills, as you will provide channel and campaign advice, subject matter expertise, platform training and support across all digital platforms to internal users and stakeholders.

As a core member of our Digital team, you’re responsible for providing day to day social media content scheduling and community engagement to support our digital acquisition, engagement, communication and support strategies and campaigns. You will lead our digital content management strategy, and work closely with our Business Intelligence, Donor Care and Communications teams to enhance our digital supporter experience across all digital channels.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Digital campaign and content planning, production, scheduling, management, optimisation, reporting and maintenance across all digital channels
  • Project manage new initiatives and trials to extend digital supporter engagement, services, capabilities and systems, as required
  • Support and lead setup and rollout of an integrated cross channel campaign strategy and a distributed digital content management model across all channels
  • Conduct ongoing SEO and engagement performance audits and reporting to ensure all current digital channels and services are performing optimally and correctly
  • Implement smart tagging to track performance and optimise our digital supporter journeys and experiences across all digital channels
  • Meet budgeted digital income generation, supporter/donor acquisition, community retention and development targets
  • Support, evaluate and identify opportunities and solutions to improve digital supporter engagement, retention, development, conversion rates
  • Collaborate cross functionally to improve our advocacy, servicing and fundraising strategies
  • Provide digital specialist advice, user training and support, as required
  • Support our digital fundraising and marketing programs as required

The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:


  • Tertiary qualification in digital media, advocacy, lead generation, fundraising, marketing, e-commerce, communications or related, relevant subject area
  • 4+ years’ digital content management, social media community development, digital marketing and fundraising experience overseeing major website, social media, appeals, brand campaigns and sms/email/enews marketing programs
  • 4+ years’ administering eDM platforms, website CMS. DAMs and social media platforms
  • Sound understanding of best practice evidence led, human centred design principles and the ability to implement these to enhance the digital user experience
  • Strong working knowledge and experience using HTML/CSS/Javascript
  • Qualified, experienced Google Analytics user
  • Strong, technical grasp of payment gateways, processes and services
  • Experienced user of Adobe Creative Suite 8 for image editing and video editing/titling or similar
  • Microsoft Office Suite


  • Prior experience working as a social media lead, digital content producer, digital project manager, email marketer, digital marketer or similar role
  • Exposure and experience working in non-profits and ideally, exposure to emergency/disaster/crisis fundraising appeals and campaigns
  • Google Adwords experience, paid digital marketing campaign management and e-Commerce program management experience
