23-year-old Kate Aubusson first heard about Australia for UNHCR while studying Communications at Macquarie University. After becoming a fan on Facebook, she decided to apply as a volunteer. Kate has recently completed a three month internship with the Communications team.

"As an intern, I came in three days a week and helped the Marketing and Communications team in any way I could. The work I did was varied, from sourcing refugee stories to updating the website and Facebook pages. I learned so much.

"Working here only intensified my passion for protecting the rights of refugees. Eventually, I would like to see UNHCR's amazing work firsthand. I want to write about the people who have been displaced from their homes, and help them by making sure an account of their struggle reaches those who have the means to help."
