The 7.0 earthquake that devastated Haiti on January 12, 2010 claimed the lives of at least 150,000 people and left more than 300,000 homeless. In the immediate aftermath, UNHCR focused on providing essential materials such as plastic sheeting, blankets and hygiene kits. Though the emergency phase is now over, many of those affected by the quake remain homeless and in dire need of assistance.
