10 Years In Review Maternal health

Thousands of refugee women and babies die needlessly each year for want of simple maternity and family planning services. Through our Safe Mother and Baby Appeal, since 2006 we have supplied 36,000 Clean Delivery Kits to Chad, Myanmar and Somalia, and funded training for midwives and special nutrition and screening programs for pregnant women and girls.

A Somali mother and her new baby wait to be examined in Dadaab, Kenya. In Dadaab, 20,000 refugees are treated each month in each of the three clinics. Australia for UNHCR/N.
