Education
One in three refugee children doesn't attend school. And while 80% of refugees are women and children, girls are seriously under represented at school. Two thirds of refugee girls do not progress beyond middle primary.

Safe Mother and Baby Appeal
Of the estimated 529,000 maternal deaths that occur globally each year, 48% occur in Africa with refugee women and girls being particularly vulnerable. Countries of focus are Myanmar and Chad where health workers are facing a maternity health crisis.

Iraq Emergency
The number of displaced in Iraq is currently estimated at 4.2 million, approximately half of which have been internally displaced and the other half forced to take refuge in neighbouring states. The internal rate of displacement is continuing at a rate of some 40,000 to 50,000 a month.

Darfur/Chad Emergency
Refugees and displaced people have fled fighting that erupted in Sudan's western region of Darfur since 2003. Right now, more than 2 million people are displaced in Darfur itself. UNHCR is providing emergency relief and assistance.

Malnutrition in Kenya and Darfur
Camps in Kenya's Dadaab region and through much of Darfur have seen an upsurge in malnutrition. In the Dadaab region there has been an increase in refugee numbers due to fluctuating conflict in neighbouring Somalia. Those particularly affected are young children.

Kenyan Emergency
The UN Refugee Agency has launched its relief operation in support of hundreds of displaced Kenyans in the capital, Nairobi and those in Uganda.To date up to 600 people are believed to have been killed in the post-election violence in Kenya with another 255,000 people displaced from their homes.
