Australia for UNHCR is aiming to raise $280,000 to overhaul vital facilities in Nakivale Refugee Settlement, improving the lives and life-expectancy of its 36,000 refugees. Located in one of Africa's most volatile regions, Nakivale is a vital refugee facility. It is currently sheltering refugees from eight different African countries, including thousands of people fleeing the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This latest influx of some 14,000 Congolese has placed tremendous strain on the camp's resources in critical areas like water, health care and education. This Christmas, we aim to go one step further, helping to provide life-changing facilities and services - clean tap water, a secondary school, an ambulance and medical supplies with your support.
